What is the Pupil Premium Grant?

The Pupil Premium Grant is additional funding allocated to schools to help them improve the attainment of children from disadvantaged backgrounds. The funding is paid to maintained schools based on the number of students in Year 1 to Year 11 who are:

  • eligible for free school meals
  • have been eligible for free school meals in the previous 6 years
  • looked after children
  • children of members of the regular armed forces.
