Thomas Mills High School was designated a Technology College in 1996. This specialism covers Mathematics, Science and Design Technology. We set high standards and targets for ourselves and seek to spread good practice to other schools in these subjects.
In 2006 Thomas Mills High School was recognised as a High Performing Specialist School by the then DCSF and invited to adopt a second specialist area – Languages. We require all pupils to take at least one modern foreign language to GCSE and currently offer courses in French, German, Spanish and Mandarin to various age groups.
In 2007 Thomas Mills High School was invited to adopt another specialist area – a rare honour. We submitted a proposal to adopt the Arts as our third specialism because this fitted well with the importance we had always placed on this aspect of the curriculum and this was accepted by the DCSF.
